Are you destined to succeed in the business world

The work at home industry is comprised of two types of people.

The first group want to work at home so they can wake late, work in their PJs, and watch their favorite soap. These people may have succeeded in the corporate world, or in a regular job. They may be university graduates. They are just looking for an easier way to live their lives.

These are societies adventurers. They are separated from the ‘lazy’ segment of society by the fact that they work much harder at making their ‘get rich easily’ schemes work than most CEOs work at making corporate America work.

These people are often seen as dreamers. Their motivation may to stay at home and raise the children, get out of the rat race, build multiple streams of income, start building wealth by investing, or to do a better job than their boss did. However, their drive is to succeed.

The second group are innovators.

Innovators come from two places. They may be part of the newly defined Indigo personality type. These people may, or may not be geniuses. They help others, and often self destruct because they were forced to fit into the 4 main personality types, living in a cubical, and forced to maintain the status quo.

The second type of Innovator may, or may not, be a genius. In fact, they probably have never been tested. They just know that they are trapped in the corporate world. They probably have not reached a level of success that challenges their capabilities – but one, or more, managers have launched their careers by stealing this innovator’s ideas. When there is a deadline, or problem, this innovator is forced to solve it – and they do.

Where to You Fit?

Women have a harder time determining where they fit in this scheme then men. A man works from home and he is left alone for most of the day. However, women are often expected to take on the housework, run errands, and stop working when the family arrives home at night.

I am mentioning this because these things must be addressed before the woman leaves the workforce. Statistics have proven that even a simple task like ‘throwing a load of laundry in’ can substantially tip the balance between success and failure.

Men have their own problems to face. The number one mistake they make is asking their wives to work as secretaries. Wives rarely have the skills, or motivation, needed to succeed. If they did, they’d be in the workforce. Do yourself a favor and either do your own paperwork – or hire a ‘real’ secretary – a skilled worker.

The odds are, if you see yourself in one of the top categories then you will make an excellent, and successful entrepreneur.

If you fit into the first category, then you probably do not have the management skills needed to succeed, but now that you are aware of that drawback, you can remedy it easily.

People who fit into the second category can easily succeed, but they may find themselves trying to diversify too much.

A good manager starts any endeavor by focusing on themselves first. Measure your own strengths and weaknesses and find a business that ‘fits’ your skills, drive, and personality.

Customer service customers serving customers

Did you know that an online business forum could pay significant dividends in customer service?

Customer service is a very important aspect of your online business. Some businesses err on the side of too little interest shown to customers while others can be extremely overbearing and smother a new client until they consider a restraining order.

There is a middle ground that can show your customers you care without pushing them to make an additional purchase. The struggle we all face in customer service is being able to adequately meet the needs of valued customers.

Certainly one of the best things we can do is respond swiftly and in the consumers best interest if they have a complaint. Future sales rest on the success of your ability to manage consumer complaints.

One of the ways to minimize consumer complaints is to allow customers to take an issue directly to other customers through a forum. At first blush this may seem like a good idea. However, it seems that when a consumer has the opportunity to ask questions from a third party they have a better chance at resolving many issues prior to a visit to your customer service department.

An example would be if a consumer were to purchase an electronic device from your online store and after working with the item, consider the purchase to be ill advised because they can’t make it perform correctly.

A customer forum would allow that consumer to visit with others who have used this product and may be able to provide guidance on how best to make the product function properly. In this case the consumer is happy, you minimized a complaint, and other customers are made useful allies in your online business success.

Certainly you will discover negative feedback in these forums from time to time, but this is simply an opportunity for your customer service department to shine. Take decisive action to remedy the problem and provide a post in the business forum with the steps you have taken to correct the issue.

This allows all customers to see the effectiveness of your ‘service after the sale’.

We’ve all been to stores where the clerk uses Point of Sale (POS) software to point out a variety of items that would go well with our original purchase. Sometimes this can be of help, but sometimes it’s just annoying. A business forum allows you to gauge a more appropriate response to customer problems and then demonstrate just how responsive you are. The good news is more than one customer will be impressed by your excellent response.

Tis the season to avoid litigation making sure your office christmas party is safe

According to recent statistics, a third of companies aren’t planning on hosting the traditional office Christmas Party this year, amidst concerns about legal action due to drunken antics and so forth. While I can safely say there are many more office safety risks during a party than the rest of the year (most offices just aren’t built for that level of snacks, alcohol and cheesy music), with a little thinking ahead the office Christmas party can become the celebrated institution it once was – without the dark cloud of litigation hanging overhead. It’s important to keep the office health and safety precautions in the background however – no one likes the idea of constant red tape when they’re trying to unwind. Already over half of managers recently surveyed felt the celebratory atmosphere felt very ‘forced’.

Here are 5 workplace health and safety steps you can take to minimise the risk of a litigious post party hangover.

1) Take it out of the office

The easiest way of avoiding the legal minefield of workplace health and safety laws is to take it out of the office! As I mentioned earlier, the typical office with its computers, water cooler and cubicles is just not built for the antics and tomfoolery of the stereotypical office Christmas party. Booking a restaurant or a hotel may seem like an unnecessary expense in the short term, but the different environment will help people unwind and enjoy themselves, and your precious photocopier will not be damaged by the exhibitionist office clown!

2) Leave off the Mistletoe

This one is less ‘health and safety’ and more to do with employment law, but one of the biggest concerns for legal action is the fear of sexual harassment in the workplace. And while the Mistletoe is a firm favourite, in some cases it really can be asking for trouble. By taking it off the list of decorations, you will limit your responsibility if someone does feel harassed or intimidated – remember that if you are funding the party, then the party will still come under the office rules, including those pertaining to sexual harassment. As a warning about office conduct in general, a worker from Merill Lynch was paid a Ј1,000,000 out of court settlement over comments about her sex life and breasts at the office Christmas party, so keep an eye out for inappropriate conduct.

3) Look out for hazards

Here’s a bizarre statistic for you: in 2002, 1,000 people were injured by falling Christmas trees. It just goes to show that hazards are everywhere, especially with the alcohol free flowing. If you can’t budget to have the office elsewhere, make sure you’re not creating trouble where there were no occupational health and safety hazards before. Typical Christmas office safety pitfalls can be easily avoided: Don’t allow people to stand on office chairs or desks to put up decorations and don’t allow fire hazards like Christmas lights to be hung on computers or air vents. Also, ensure that all the usual emergency information is not obscured by crass decorations – even if it means there’s no room for that last life-size reindeer model – the office health and safety laws must come first!

4) Watch out for the alcohol

It’s unsurprising that many managers are terrified at the workplace health and safety inspector’s nightmare: combining alcohol with expensive office equipment. Fortunately, there are steps you can take towards limiting the potential for damage and aiding office safety. It’s a well known fact that alcohol is most potent on an empty stomach, so put on some catering. Salty snacks are less recommended because they create a thirst which can be counter-intuitive for the alcohol-wary manager. A good way of being able to control the alcohol a little more is by making your own punch – the alcohol content is then up to you, and the fruit juice in them will cause the alcohol to be absorbed into the bloodstream that little bit slower.

5) Put on transportation

Booking some taxis or providing rooms for party goers to sleep may sound like an unnecessary expense at the end of the night, but the cost is far less than the risk they would cause to themselves by drink driving, or the damage to the company if they sue due to an accident as they stagger back to their homes. And the extra cost involved is all in the spirit of Christmas, and will ensure that for just one day, you aren’t compared to Ebenezer Scrooge!

One final word of advice: According to a recent survey, Bing Crosby’s White Christmas and The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York are our favourite Christmas songs, while Cliff Richard’s Mistletoe and Wine, and Wham’s Last Christmas are best avoided if you want to keep the moaning to a minimum! Some would call a Christmas over indulgence in Cliff a far more concerning breach of health and safety laws, than a little alcohol abuse!

The increasing power of publicity media exposure -- and how it can benefit your business

The call came into my office and the voice on the other end was very energetic, almost giddy: “I have finalized my marketing budget and need your help launching an advertising campaign for my new product,” he breathed. “Congratulations,” I replied, “but before we implement an ad campaign, I want to make sure you have explored potential PUBLICITY opportunities that could generate some cost-efficient media exposure first.” Then, silence. “I never thought about that,” he sighed. “Frankly, I don’t know much about it.”

He is not alone. It’s a common conversation. Although many entrepreneurs or business people know a bit about publicity or media exposure, the majority of them simply don’t understand the full benefits of “publicity placements” or how to go about generating them successfully. Publicity placements have always been a cost-efficient way to market a product/business and generate clients or customers, but because of lack of knowledge or a misunderstanding of what publicity is and does, many entrepreneurs don’t take full advantage of publicity opportunities -- and that can lead to missed marketing chances.

I recently surveyed a few dozen business owners and entrepreneurs in some newsgroups and business chat rooms about their knowledge of “publicity placements” in the media. I found out that only 37% knew that a simple “product profile” in a magazine was generated as a result of publicity efforts. Most thought the company had paid the media outlet to run the feature, much like an ad. And of that 37%, less than half of them knew HOW to generate a similar placement.

Another interesting fact, because of the recent slowdown in the economy, expensive advertising budgets have been slashed. As a result, many businesses, like your competitors, are turning to publicity/PR campaigns as a more affordable means of marketing to compete with other companies. Here are some ways to use publicity placements to help your business:

Editorial Placements/Media Notification:

What some entrepreneurs might not realize is that we see editorial placements from publicity efforts everyday in the media: product profiles, feature articles and contributed by-lined articles in magazines, newspapers, trade industry newsletters or on TV/radio/cable newscasts & shows. This is not advertising, this is “EDITORIAL Placement” or “Media Notification” of a product, business or industry expert. Notify the appropriate media that your newsworthy product is on the market or your business is offering a unique new service and let them run a feature placement that will spread that message to your consumer market. These placements can detail your product or business very effectively, giving consumers some objective, pertinent information that may well entice them to become future customers.

These editorial placements are looked upon much more credibly than ad placements. That is not a slam on advertising. Paying for advertising placements is indeed an effective way to market your product. But the fact is, a positive editorial placement such as a product profile in a magazine or a newspaper can be much more persuasive than a glossy, over-hyped advertisement – and a fraction of the cost. My point is that editorial placements are an often time overlooked marketing vehicle for a business, and that entrepreneurs should understand the full benefits of these placements to make the most of their marketing efforts.

Editorial placements are a wonderfully reciprocal way for you and the media to work together for the betterment of your business. The media needs to fill its pages and airtime with interesting information -- and you need to get the word out to your market. Research the media market to find those media outlets and editorial contacts with which you can forge that mutually beneficial relationship. But you have to do your part and do it right - or the media will forge that relationship with your competitor. Make sure your media message is solid, contains newsworthy angles and isn’t disguised as overly commercialized ad copy. Have high-quality photos and media samples available and do all you can to make the media’s job of featuring your product as simple as possible. It also helps to have some sort of clipping service in place to track your placements and get you copies so you can use them in your secondary marketing programs.

Expert Branding:

This type of publicity placement generating takes advantage of the expert knowledge within a particular business. It is an effective tool for entrepreneurs whose businesses are more service related, like consultants or specialists. Expert branding basically treats the expert like a product. Alert the media as to your expertise on a specific topic and avail yourself to serve as an expert interview resource for future articles or news feature segments. Additionally, the expert should write a few brief articles on a specialized topic and make them available to editors for review and possible publication. The challenge of this type of publicity placement is the tedious task of finding out which outlets accept “expert editorial contributions” or contributed by-lined articles in their publications. Again, it comes down to meticulously researching your media market to find those media outlets that may be in need of the editorial content that you can provide them.

With some creativity, expert branding can be effective for product-based businesses as well. One client of mine runs a fresh wild salmon distribution business in the Pacific Northwest and was looking to increase consumer awareness of his products. Based on his more than 20 years of experience in the wild salmon harvesting business, we are expert branding him as a viable interview resource to health/food editors for features detailing the differences and benefits of wild salmon over farm-raised fish, as well as other related topics. In this case, my client (the expert) is identified and quoted in features and the name of the business and even a link to a website are often included for consumers to check out. This is great credibility building exposure at little or no cost.

Overall, when using the media to help market your product or business, take advantage of as many FREE media opportunities as you can. If you lack the expertise or time, a PR agency or publicist can generate the editorial placements for you. But the fee you pay them is a FRACTION of what it would cost you to buy similar sized ad placements. And those publicity placements typically lead to a much better consumer response right out of the gate – which is just what you need to boost your business to the next level.

Seo - linking strategies for seo

It can be difficult to generate unique content each and every day that you sit down to write your blog. This is where RSS feeds and news stories can provide a valuable source of inspiration. Many blogs simply are commentaries on what is going on in the news, rather than an attempt to announce the news. This is because you simply are not a news provider. When you provide news to your readers in this way it is called “filtered” writing.

The best way to take this reactive position as a blog writer is to always dynamically link your commentary to the source of the news story or the article. You can also link to others commenting on the same subject in other blogs. This gets your name and the name of your product out there and raises your search engine page rankings.

The reason you want to always link your ideas is two-fold. First of all the search engines rank you according to the number of links indexed on your site. The more pages it finds linked to yours, the higher your visibility will be in the web search pages. Second of all, showing your readers that you know how to research and give credit where it is due shows that you are a professional. It simply lends you an air of credibility that your readers can respect. This allows your readers to come away from the experience of reading your blog feeling like they know more than they did before they logged in to read your site. They should not feel like they just read what you have on there in the newspaper yesterday.

Whatever the theme of your blog, your readers will expect every entry to be timely, relevant, and accurately sourced. This is why you should check your links regularly to make sure that they are not broken.

Web development a little help from my friends

A community concert will be talking place somewhere this weekend. A lot of preparations have been made for the event and everyone is looking forward to enjoying themselves.

Would you believe me if I said that the concert was the brainchild of one individual and that this singular person put the entire event together without the help of anyone else?

No, you probably wouldn’t believe me, and you’d have good reason to question the claim.

Web development is a lot like a weekend concert. There are so many elements that are needed when putting a web presence together that it may be hard for one person to manage every detail.

You will notice I didn’t say the development of a website, I said web development.

I believe there is a difference. A web site can be, and often is, developed by a singular individual. In fact, web builder software can make that process much easier, but web development is forging a presence online. Not just a cyber location, but helping to create a cyber buzz through a variety of methods.

Let’s go back to that community concert for a minute. What are some of the things that needed to be taken care of before the event?

1) Decision on performer(s).

2) Decision on date and location of performance.

3) Book performer and location.

4) Determine price per ticket.

5) Acquire insurance for the event.

6) Develop posters and distribute.

7) Send press release to media.

8) Conduct interviews when possible.

9) Line up volunteers to help take tickets, load in, feed, provide security, etc.

10) Reconcile tickets sold and money collected.

11) Issue checks for associated bills and performer fees.

12) Clean up auditorium or park area.

These are just a few of the items that need to be taken care of, and one person would have a very difficult time managing every facet of the event without the help of either volunteer or paid event staff.

Let’s look at a similar list for web development.

1) Decision on website design.

2) Decision on provider or host for website.

3) Pay for hosting and/or web building design options.

4) Determine items for sale through your online store.

5) Acquire knowledge-based content for use on site.

6) Develop a marketing plan.

7) Implement a marketing plan.

8) Develop business-networking strategies.

9) Encourage associates to consider posting on your forum or blog.

10) Reconcile orders and product fulfillment.

11) Issue checks for vendors.

12) Keep your site clear of outdates material.

Web development is the all around work you will do to make your online presence known. This includes traffic building strategies as well as web design techniques. Web development is the ultimate in multi-tasking. Frankly most people can’t do every facet of web development on their own.

These entrepreneurs could use some help from family friends, peer associates as well as the occasional assistance of freelance employees.

Unless you are some sort of cyber super hero you will likely need some help in web development. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or to accept it if it is offered.

Developing a unique selling proposition consistency between online and offline marketing

This month’s articles hammer home the importance of synergy and consistency between your online and offline marketing efforts. Within this context this month tip addresses what may well be the most important and overriding marketing consideration you can make, online or offline --- Developing your Unique Selling Proposition (USP).

When companies are trying to determine how to market a product, they focus on the Unique Selling Proposition, the one thing that makes that product different than any other. It's the one reason they think consumers will buy the product even though it may seem no different from many others just like it. It may be that the product has a lower price or more convenient packaging, or it may taste or smell better, or last longer. Would you buy from a company that does not promise some great value, benefit, or service but just a “buy from us" for no good reason sales pitch?

Your unique selling proposition is the mantra around which you will build your success so you need to be able to state it in a single statement. It will discipline you to focus on what your business is all about and bring your company to mind when someone is looking for the products or services you sell. It answers the question every consumer asks “What’s in it for me"?

Many businesses online and offline don’t provide an answer - and very few online businesses make sure that answer appears on their landing and home pages. If you can’t cut through the clutter, grab attention and communicate immediately that you offer value nobody else has, your visitors are gone to someone who can.

In order to create your USP ask yourself the following questions:

1. What are the unique aspects about my business, product, or service vs my competition?

2. Which of these aspects are most important to my customers?

3. Which aspects are difficult for my competition to imitate?

4. Which of these aspects can be easily communicated and understood?

5. Can you create a memorable message (USP) of these unique, meaningful qualities about your business or brand?

6. How will you communicate this message (USP) to buyers and end users, both online and offline?

Examples:

AVIS: "We Try Harder"

Burger King: "Have it your Way"

Kentucy Fried Chicken: "Finger Lickin Good"

Dominos Pizza: "Fresh, hot pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less, guaranteed"

Small is efficient in the electricity sector

A similar picture is emerging in the market structure of UK business electricity retailers as witnessed within the supermarket sector especially between the competitive practices being undertaken.

Just like supermarket chains, business electricity retail is dominated by a few major players who share some 96% of the total market. However, rather than compete head-on for market share, they appear only compete for a small percentage of customers at the peripherals.

They attract these new customers from each other by offering competitive ‘new customer only’ introductory rates, quickly reverting to standard rates (and sometimes more), when contracts roll-over after the first year or so. These practices are not dissimilar to the loss-leaders used by supermarkets to attract customers into the store where they are likely to spend much more on non-discounted goods.

Although showing very similar market structures now, these sectors got to this position in very different ways. The grocery sector was originally fragmented with no major players really dominating until the emergence of supermarket chains. Whereas, electricity was monopolised by regional suppliers and de-regulation simply served to reduce the number of suppliers still further, encouraging competition only amongst each other nationwide.

On one hand we have a market which was previously competitive with many suppliers that have been squeezed by ever-increasing concentration. So much so that the top three supermarket chains now have over 50% of the total market, with the market leader alone claiming 30%. On the other hand you have a market where efforts to expand the number of suppliers have been stifled by the barriers to entry and the sheer power of the incumbent suppliers.

The jury is out on the positive or negative effects of supermarket dominance, however, whatever the rights or wrongs of where we are now, no one can deny that those who now dominate have arrived at their position through their own efforts and ingenuity.

But electricity is a different matter. Power has been bestowed upon the ‘big six’ major suppliers such as British Gas, Powergen and Npower to name a few, irrespective of who actually owns them today. And one might argue that power which has been gained in such a way reduces the drive or even the necessity to compete to win.

Evidence suggests that in the 90% or so of the business that don’t switch year on year price patterns for each supplier are extremely similar. One major player makes a marginal price move and the others simply follow over time.

The argument which supports the view that supermarkets actually create competition and push prices down by their huge economies of scale and purchasing power is also one which is somewhat lost in the electricity arena. Many would view the big six as inefficient legacies of the old system who are protected from real competition by the extremely tough barriers of entry.

Indeed, some of those smaller suppliers who have managed to scale these barriers have been able to demonstrate far more efficiencies aided by intelligent investment in technology. Unlike the supermarkets, there are no real efficiencies related to scale as most electricity retailers must turn to the same wholesale market for their supply. Some can cushion any market turmoil by relying on their up-stream activities when the retail market gets tough – a luxury which is simply not an option for the smaller supplier.

But businesses needn’t switch to the smaller supplier out of sympathy nor from fear of what might lie around the corner should the major players succeed in driving them out completely. They should switch simply because they are now able to get a much better deal and a deal with longevity. The smaller supplier with a plan to mimic the big six in order to attract new customers would be committing commercial suicide. What would be the point of fighting so hard to win new business and then letting it slip away at renewal?

Businesses can save significant amounts of money by switching to the smaller independent supplier now and can relax in the knowledge that they will continue to save money and receive an exemplary service into the bargain. Only then will the big players be forced to sit up and take note and who knows, we might just see the emergence of a truly competitive electricity sector in the future.

A guide to import and export laws

Import and export laws are a combination of various international as well as national laws that are used to control cross border trade of products and services. Different countries impose different import and export laws and regulations that are designed to protect their economic situation and their environment as well as human health.

Considering international trade involves regulations imposed by so many different countries, it is far more challenging than any domestic or national business operation. Some of the complexities encountered in international trade include issues of legality, documentation, licensing, finance, property rights, governmental regulations and communication. As the emphasis on awareness of terrorism keeps increasing, it is equally important to keep up-to-date with ever-changing new laws as and when they are enacted.

A formal declaration is required for any trade that exceeds the stipulated limit, which is different in different countries. Wrongful declarations of true value and weight of the goods so as to attract a lower duty value is considered illegal and the trader’s international trading privileges could be revoked or suspended.

Contravention of import and export laws, whether knowingly or unknowingly is a serious offense and is likely to attract a penalty, which could include imprisonment in most countries. Serious transgressions include trading in drugs, endangered wild life species, toxic substances and hazardous materials.

Import and Export of Wildlife Species

Import and export of wildlife species are subject to stringent foreign wildlife laws and regulations all over the world. Almost all countries ban the trade of threatened and endangered species, marine mammals, migratory birds and any injurious or harmful species. All wildlife traders require a special permit, which should be valid. In the United States, wildlife export/import regulations are included in the federal laws that are designed to protect wildlife including the Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Wild Bird Conservation Act and others.

Sports memorabilia collectible treasures

People have worried for a long time about the authenticity of their sports memorabilia collectible treasures. This worry has hindered many large collectors from investing large sums of money in memorabilia items that they think could not possibly be signed by the person that is being represented on the item.

There are companies that certify the authenticity of these sports memorabilia treasures, and some of those companies have a very rigid process that they require to be followed to the letter, to ensure that the sports memorabilia treasures they are sponsoring or selling will always be backed with they seal of approval and a money back guarantee.

The seal of approval and authenticity of these sports memorabilia treasures is quite often an actual Certificate of Authenticity that you can place under glass. These certificates often come with a matching hologram of the sports products company that is sponsoring the event in question.

There will also be a signed statement from the sports product company’s representative that actually witnessed the signature, and will attest to the authenticity of the item by giving you the name of the event that the item was signed and the date that the signing occurred.

There are many protections in place through many of the sports products company policies. The integrity of the particular company is on the line each time sports memorabilia treasures are sold. The Steiner Sports memorabilia collection provides a guarantee on each piece in their hand-signed sports memorabilia treasures.

The Steiner Sports memorabilia collection has that hologram protection policy in place so that sports collectors will know that the sports memorabilia treasures they are buying are positively authentic.

Another sports memorabilia treasures company called Tri-Star Productions, uses a superb authentication process for all of its sports memorabilia products sold under the name Tri-Star products. They use a numbered hologram that is firmly attached to each sports memorabilia item that is manufactured or sponsored by them.

The numbered hologram is not hard to spot because the numbered hologram features the statement “TRI-STAR AUTHENTIC” on it, and sports collectors simply have to go to the Tri-Star Productions website and enter that hologram number into their hologram authentication software to be assured that the product they are purchasing is really authentic.

Other sports memorabilia treasures feature protection policies that are very strict and concise. Mounted Memories, a sports products company has a set policy in place that limits the methods of obtaining authentic sports memorabilia items. With each of these methods and policies, the consumer will also be assured through the receipt of a certification card that accompanies each piece of sports memorabilia treasures that they have in stock.

The Mounted Memories sports products company has kept their methods down to two principles which state to the consumer that the item was either obtained through a signing event that they sponsored, or through signings that occurred in the direct sight of one of their trusted representatives.

Sports collectors feel very comfortable about purchasing sports memorabilia treasures with these protection policies in place, and come to know the authenticity holograms by sight after only a day. This is a major selling feature they use to assure their customers that they are buying some of the truly authentic sports memorabilia treasures on the market today.

Contemporary or classical musical instruments

Playing a musical instrument is a gift to all those who hear it. Does it really matter if you play a classical musical instrument or a contemporary musical instrument? It can. First and foremost, playing a musical instrument should be fun and rewarding. If it’s not, you are not likely to practice it at all and eventually you will lose interest.

Playing classical music with a classical instrument can be remarkably challenging and rewarding. As a general standard, classical music is more intricate that contemporary music, although there are naturally exceptions to every rule.

Playing contemporary music with contemporary instruments can also be tremendously satisfying and rewarding. While not everyone may agree that contemporary music is a gift when they hear it, those who appreciate it will appreciate it deeply.

One of my favorite trends as of late is to either play contemporary music with a classical instrument or classical music with a contemporary instrument. Both sounds are considerably remarkable and both aspects take quite a bit of talent and practice. Creating this interesting twist can ultimately please more crowds, as classical music played with a contemporary instrument can reach the younger generations and actually turn them on to classical styles. The same can be said about contemporary music that is played with classical instruments.

When choosing between classical or contemporary instruments, the best method of decision making is simple preference. When choosing for a child, or helping a child make the decision, preference of course still matters, but opening the doors to new music and different experiences can really benefit the child tremendously. The basic goal for choosing an instrument, either classical or contemporary, is finding an expression that works well with the personality. Children who learn at least a little of both classical and contemporary expression are more equipped to make the decision for themselves later on.

Classical music and instrumentation can teach strong basic skills, while venturing into contemporary music and instrumentation can be both inspiring and fun for kids, especially older children.

Being well versed in classical music can actually provide a better platform for kids or adults who want to play a more contemporary instrument. Contemporary music is often written with the use of only a few chords and a basic beat while classical music demands a higher level of instrumentation. If we never teach kids the classical instruments or the classical music, the classical arts are destined to die.

Afraid to start your own business new turnkey automation makes it easy for anyone to profit

The benefits of owning your own business can be astronomical. Not only can you earn all the extra money you'll ever need, you can earn a full-time income that dwarfs what you're making now.

There's a good reason why you'll earn more owning your own business. Employers ALWAYS pay employees LESS than they're worth. The difference between what an employee is worth and what they're paid is profit. The bigger the difference between worth and pay, the more profit the employer makes.

But when you own your own business, you get paid the entire amount you're worth. If you're worth $1,000 per week, or $1,000 per day, or even $1,000 per hour -- that's what you earn. There is no boss standing over you saying, "I'm sorry, but even though you're earning me $1,000 per hour, I'm only going to pay you $1,000 per week."

Associate program your ticket to get rich

Having your own website doesn’t do a lot to your life. It will only be a place where people can visit and read the things that you put in your website. However, by having your own website, you can turn it into a moneymaking machine that can land you large amounts of profits.

Joining an associate program or an affiliate program is one of the most rewarding and the most lucrative Internet home business that you can ever get in to. Besides, you don’t have to invest a lot of money for it. You only have to have a website where you will put your affiliate programs.

Affiliate or associate programs work by promoting your affiliate company's products and referring potential clients visiting your website to the affiliate company’s website. When the visitors from your website purchases a particular product or services from your affiliate company, you will get a commission out of the sold product.

This may seem simple enough but there are things that you have to consider in order to profit a substantial amount from this kind of home business. First of all, successful affiliate marketers work hard in promoting their website through articles. By writing articles related to the product you are marketing for your affiliate company and publishing them to numerous article publishing websites, you will be able to get targeted traffic in your website.

The first thing you have to do is that you have to dedicate your website to a particular niche related to your affiliate company's products. The topics in your article and also in your website should be similar to your affiliate company's products. Besides, you wouldn’t want to have an affiliate program that promotes guns if your website is about dogs or pets. You have to choose your affiliate program to be related to the topic of your website.

With this, there will be a greater chance that you will attract more people and more potential buyers to your affiliate company's website. This will result in greater income opportunities.

You have to remember that in order to be successful in the affiliate program business, targeted traffic should be your main priority. The more targeted traffic entering your website, the more chances you will have in earning a lot of money and getting rich.

To do this, affiliate marketers publish articles with topics related to their website's theme and also the product that the affiliate companies sell. This will generate targeted traffic to your website and in turn, more income opportunities.

Affiliate programs aren't a "get rich quick" scheme, it is something that you should work hard on and it is also something that you should dedicate some of your time in. Spend some time developing your website and it will come to a point that your website will be comfortable for use by everyone.

There are things that that you should consider when starting your own online business as an affiliate marketer. By knowing about affiliate programs and how it works, you will definitely be on your way to success. You will also be making a lot of money through affiliate programs.

Just remember that you should choose a topic and a product that you plan on promoting for a particular company that you are familiar about. Writing articles about a particular product that you don’t have any knowledge on, will only result in letting you look like a complete fool explaining something that you don’t know anything about.

Remember these things and you will be surely on your way to success and getting rich with affiliate or associate programs.

Consistency leads to success

Internet marketing is a unforgiving business and getting side tracked is almost inevitable. I have often found myself searching and wondering around the internet when I should be concentrating on my business' everyday operation. Everyone who runs their own business on the internet should always make a list of day to day things they need to accomplish. Here's a few things I do on a daily basis to make sure that my business grows.

Getting in the right frame of mind

Starting off my day on the right foot is imparitive to my success. Like the title suggests "consistency leads to success". If I get off track then minutes and hours are lost and everyone knows time is money. Everyday is a challenge, some days are better than others in that you have more sales. Its the days that you don't see a single sale that is the real kicker and these are the days you have to tell yourself that you will never give up. The reason 95% of internet marketers fail is because of this reason. They think they can instantly make riches on the internet and when they don't make money right away they quit and move on to something else. I can honestly tell you that it takes hard work and consistency on a daily basis to make money online. So everyday I get it into my head that failure is not an option and that I won't become part of the ever growing statistic.

Blogging and Pinging

Everyone knows that having a blog to help promote your business is a must. Even better is to self host your blog on your own server as a subdomain of your main website. Keeping traffic on your site is a crucial point in making sales online. Once you have a blog set up you should make posts to it everyday for the first while to build up the content. Search engines love fresh new content and in order to get the search engines crawling on your site you should have alot of content for them to devour. Once you have done this then post every other day or at least 2 to 3 times per week. Remember to ping the posts you make each and everytime you post something new. For pinging services I use Pingoat. com, Pingomatic. com and Ipings. com

Article Submission

Article Marketing is nothing new to the internet but most people will tell you that its a great way to get traffic and one way back links. Once you learn how to write informative and good content its a good idea to get your thoughts out to the world and this is what article marketing is. Article directories ar a dime a dozen on the internet and from just one submission to a directory could potentially get you thousands of vistors and one way back links. What are one way back links you might ask? Well basically its an incoming link to your website. Most article directories allow you have an author box, resource box or bio box and this is where you tell the reader about you or where they can get more info about what you have wrote. When putting a link to your website in the "author box" you should always try to anchor it in keywords that relate to your site.

Generally I write 1 or 2 articles per week and submit them to about 450 article directories. I do use article submission software which makes the task much easier. To use the same submitter software I use visit my site and get it for free. The submitter comes with 450+ article directories you can program onto the submitter.

Participating in Forums

I have to admit that since joining a few forums my business and knowledge of internet marketing has growen immensely. At first I just read everything I could and learned from all the people on the forum. When I had something to say that was informative and helpful I made a post. When you make a post to a topic it should help the person who made the original post and unless you have something to contribute you should not post at all. If you have a question or something you wish to discuss then make a post and someone will most likely help you out. Basically I use forums to learn about internet marketing and get answers to questions I have. Remember the saying "you learn something new everyday", well this is why I go and participate in forums. To find some well known forums to join enter "Forums" into your favorite search engine.

Directory Submission

I regularly use directory submission software to increase the amount of back links to my website. In order to rank well in the search engines one must increase his/her link popularity. The more incoming links to your website means that your site is important and thus search engines rank it higher. To get the software I use visit my website below.

By being consistent you will achieve your goals. Make a list of things you need to do and stick to it at all cost. It just could be the difference between success and failure.

Seo a do-it-yourself guide

Some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) firms can toss around a lot of important terms and promise unbelievable results, but often the results are short-lived and the SEO terms they use are convenient in intimidating the faint of heart into subscribing to their services. After all if you can’t understand what they are saying how are you supposed to understand how to do it yourself?

While it is possible to develop a masterfully designed SEO strategy for use on your website by accessing the skills of others, the truth is paying a third party for work you can do yourself may not be the wisest use of company assets, although most SEO companies would likely dispute my claim since, of course, their livelihood largely depends on your ignorance.

Did you know the primary influence on SEO success is keyword rich content? The content you write and the way that you say it has a profound effect on the way search engines determine your site rankings.

If you take no other advice on SEO take this one and implement it yourself. The primary search engines work to rank sites based on predominant keywords or key phrases.

You will discover that online visitors and search engines agree, great content makes for a great online experience for potential consumers as well as a few good search engines looking for great websites.

Did you know that if you invite others to link to your site the chances of SEO success improve?

Search engines are very favorable to linking strategies. It tells them that others view your site as a worthwhile destination with adequate reason to associate themselves with you in an online environment.

Did you know that developing positive contacts improve site visitation? Did you also know that increased traffic results in improved site ranking?

Search engine companies make locating trusted websites their number one priority. If your website is designed to maximize one or more facets of your business the search engines will view your site as serious about reaching a very specific customer base.

The idea of networking is as important to those you network with as it is to you. This is a business-to-business strategy that can’t really be duplicated by using most paid SEO firms. You have the best handle on whom you are most interested in forming connections with. In the development process there is often mutual back scratching that can ultimately serve to drive traffic to both sites.

Many SEO firms rely on extensive strategies that required their intervention and care. Some of these strategies do have value, but that value is minimized as search engines streamline some of the indicators of site rankings. For instance Meta tag information was once very important to SEO strategies, today many site owners can achieve positive success without significantly altering their meta tag details.

Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of SEO strategies that can help, but content and connections are the two primary means of achieving improved site rankings – and you can do that yourself.

Brand yourself the pay per click genius

Now, what is branding. There are other aspects of branding in what you can provide, what you are really good at that you could provide for the market that you are in. If by default you provide marketing, and you have been real good at marketing since even before you came online, and then came online and continued to start to make a lot of money, you could get lots of people asking you, can you show us how you are making money, how do you market, how do you do this. How do you do what you do. So by default we started teaching people marketing.

We did not choose to do this, but this is what people wanted, we were good at providing something to the market that is of value and so we did that. There are different things that you can do, if you are really good at pay per click, say the only way that you can have a branding of that type is if you master something. A lot of people that come to my company are people that learn information from other people or anywhere else. We always tell people the same thing, you need to pick one thing and learn and master that before you move on to the next thing.

With my company, if you just came in or you have been in for a while and you are kind of stuck and do not know what to do, pick one thing, pick one of the ebooks and learn what is in that ebook. Or you can pick one of the videos in pay per click, or articles and press releases or using other people’s list or any video, and that tactic, just do that. Even though you might find yourself wanting to stray from that a week, or a few days or a month after, do not do it. Pick that tactic up, do it and do it and mold it to yourself as to how you do things until you are making sales or it is successful for you for whatever you are using it for.

At that point, when you do that you are almost there to mastery. A full mastery of something means you have learned it, you have applied it, you have molded it to yourself and you have become really good at that tactic, or better than the average person. When you do that you can actually expound on that tactic. When you have mastered a tactic or a marketing method, you can use that marketing method to make whatever amount of money you want. We have trained people that could just use pay per click and make forty, fifty, eighty thousand dollars a month, just with pay per click. Not using any other marketing tactic. We can do the same thing with press releases and articles. We can do the same thing with using other people’s lists, because it is over and over again.

Now, when you have mastered something, or become really good at it, better than the average person, you can then show other people what you know, because you are better than the average person. If you have gone so far as to master it, you know a great deal about that subject, you know it works because you do it personally, it is not based on theory, it is not going to be reading any book or watching any video and then say, okay, I read this and watched this and now I am going to teach you what I have just read and watched, no. You have to apply it so you can practice what you preach. There is no way you can show somebody how to do something if you did not do it yourself.

I do not consider myself that smart. I cannot make up stuff like that. There are a lot of people in the world that do that and can do that but I cannot. You have to have practical application. When you know something you have practical application, you are able to know the inside and outside of the program. For example, take pay per click, you become really good at pay per click, you can make sales with your company and you are able to do that consistently. Now you can brand yourself as the pay per click genius, the pay per click king or queen, or whatever you want to call yourself and that way when you start calling yourself that, people start to recognize you as that, especially if you show them what you are doing and it works.

Picking plr articles that provide useful information

The concept of article writing is to provide the readers with useful, honest and entertaining information, on topics the readers are interested in. When writing an article, the authors are branding themselves as 'The Expert' on the chosen topic. The end result of publishing articles to the internet is the articles will drive an automatic and continuous stream of traffic to the author's website.

Unfortunately, although there are people who find a great deal of pleasure in writing articles, this can be a daunting task for some. And this is where private label content (PLC) comes into play. PLC generally refers to articles, e-books and manuals where the contents are free to change. They are very useful to overcome writer's block and time restraints. Making use of private label contents can help you project a polished, professional appearance to your visitors while still giving you control of the information presented.

However you will need to pick the correct articles to make your sites successful. Not all PLR articles are created equal! Sometimes it is obvious that an article seems a bit 'lightweight'. Publishing articles on the Internet means there is not an editor to scrutinize the details and say yes or no. There are PLR articles and ebooks that only include the basic information that everyone but the man from Mars knows.

Good private label articles or ebooks should contain useful information where there is something tor learn. They should not only be used to get backlinks from article directories or to introduce a new site to search engines. For example, everyone knows that Fido needs to be fed, watered and exercised properly to be a happy doggie. But does everyone know the symptoms of a certain disease that particular breed is prone to and what to do about it? If you can provide information such as this in your article, you will soon have a happy readership.

As another example, there are various private label articles that provide information about virus protection. Now it seems that everyone knowns that an antivirus software is essential to a computer’s ability to fend off viruses and other malicious programs. A good PLR article should contain useful tips or info such as to list some antivirus software (e. g. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition, Kaspersky Anti-Virus, etc) and why the software are recommended.

Quality PLR articles tend to be easier to modify because the contents are usually presented in an organized order. For instance, "Fighting off Viruses: Advancements in Antivirus Software Suites" is a PLR article that presents a list of several antivirus software. The article contains several sections: an introduction that covers some reasons why protecting a PC from viruses is getting harder, a few simple steps to protect against virus threats and some recommended antivirus software.

Now you can do some modifications easily such as adding some features for each antivirus software presented on the article. You may also recommend another antivirus software that you are using and tell the readers your own experience with it. This will help the readers to make the right decision when choosing an antivirus software.

In summary, good private label contents should provide useful information. People should be able to learn something or get ideas from the contents. By creating useful information you will become a resource for other websites that may link to you, providing your site with valuable hyperlinks. Information is a great way to show your visitors that you have something worthwhile to impart and they will be more likely to recommend you to others.

How can my business use a blog

Blogs represent power. Its power comes from its inter active nature. Blogs enable you to communicate with your customers quickly and efficiently. The most important aspect of communicating through a blog is that it is two-way interaction. You can make quick adjustments based on the feedback you receive.

Let’s say you are experimenting with an idea for a brand new product. You have thought about it for a while, and you are pretty sure you have a winner there. Before you would even make your first prototype you could post your idea on your blog and engage your customers. They may love the idea or attack it. No matter how they react, your visitors will tell you exactly what they think about the product. They may not be clear about your idea and ask for clarification, or they may help you improve your idea. The constant communication between your business and your customers is what makes blogging so powerful.

You may think that your business could not benefit from a blog, or that there is nothing to blog about your products, or that nobody would be interested in reading about your services in a blog. It is simply untrue. You can make almost anything interesting. You can provide valuable information about your business regardless of your business.

Think of your blog as the vehicle for fresh content about topics that excite your customers. The topics you blog about has to be valuable enough, so your customers return regularly. Your customers may not return every day, but if you provide value they will be back on a regular basis.

In addition to providing valuable content, your blog should also provide outside links to further reading. You may refer to an article you have read on another blog, embedding a link in your blog that your user can follow. The more value you can create the more your customers will appreciate it.

When you are blogging for business you can potentially reach a global audience. Your blog enables you to suddenly reach a global market. As you becoming a dedicated blogger, you establish yourself as an expert. Hence, you are building new avenues to success. As others learn about your blog, you are building your brand. A successful blogger can quickly become the talk of mainstream media.
