Healing scriptures not seen before

There are many great healing scriptures. Sometimes, however, you run across one that you have not seen before. Or if you have seen it, God simply has not yet quickened it (made it come alive) for you. Then he quickens it for you and you see complete new revelations in it that you have never seen before. Isaiah reveals one of these hidden, healing Scriptures to us.

Isa 57:19

I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. (KJV)

Who is the person who is afar off? Who is the person who is near? To answer the above question, we must understand the same identical words, terms and/or phrases that are used to describe the Abrahamic Seed Group in the Old Testament (the saved Jews) also describe the Abrahamic Seed Group in the New Testament (the saved Jews with saved Gentile Christians grafted in.)

(We call the Abrahamic Seed Group Jews in the Old Testament, but we call them Christians in the Old Testament.)

This is the same identical group of people in both Testaments. In the New, however, Gentile Christians are simply grafted into the Old Testament Group.) Because of this Gentile Christian grafting, the same words, terms and /or descriptive phrases are used to describe the same Abrahamic Seed Group in both Testaments.

One of the words, terms and/or descriptive phrases used to identify the Abrahamic Seed Group in the Old Testament was the expression near. Conversely, the Gentiles in the Old Testament were referred to as far off.

This resulted in the existence of two distinct groups of people in the Old Testament era. Saved Jews composed the first group, the near group. Unsaved Gentiles made up the second group, the far group.

Keep in mind as we progress here, that healing belongs only to the near group. It did not belong to the Gentile far group until Jesus becomes the peace between the two groups.

Also remember in our verse above, Isa 57:19, that we are watching closely just two terms: near and far. Again, the person near is the Jew in the Old Testament. The person who is far off is the Gentile in the Old Testament.

These same two terms (near and far off) are also used by Paul in the New Testament in Ephesians. But here we see Gentile Christians transferred from the far off group into the near group by grafting.

Eph 2:13-14

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle (KJV)

In other words, the blood of Christ, when accepted by Gentiles, forces an instantaneous, supernatural transfer of us Gentiles from one group to the other. We are supernaturally snatched from the far off group and supernaturally place equally into the near group!

Now during the Christian era, these two groups, the far off and the near, are merged into just one group, the near group. From Jesus’ death onward, Gentiles who receive Christ are grafted into the near group right along with the saved Jews. Furthermore, we Gentile Christians stand in this group on an equal footing with the Jews and we participate in the Abrahamic blessing of healing.

We both now make up the near group, known as the Abrahamic Seed Group and are both promised healing from the hand of God.

The point is this; God will now heal the far off person as well as the near person because we Gentile Christians are no longer far off. We Gentile Christian have been brought into the near group by grafting.

No wonder Isaiah 57:19 said above, “I will heal him.” Why not? God promised healing in the Abrahamic covenant to both Jew and Gentile. No wonder Isaiah saw this and recorded it for us.

Now you can see that Christian healing traces its roots to the Old Testament and to the Jews themselves.

Learn the terms, words, and/or descriptive phrases of the Abrahamic Seed Group in both Testaments and you will have an understanding of what belongs to you that you never had before.

How to read an online casino review

:
There are quite an overwhelming number of online casino review sites out there. Each online casino reviewer gives you his or her assessment of the torrent of online casinos courting your participation. In this article, we will use our own online casino review template as an example to detail what you'll want to look for when trying to find the right online casino for you.

Bonuses/Promotions

In this section of the online casino review you'll discover what the signup bonus is at that site -- typically matching a certain percent of your first deposit -- as well as any other bonuses available at the online casino. Re-deposit bonuses are also popular, whereby the online casino matches a percentage of select future deposits (say, once a month, your first deposit of that month).

Bonuses may be game-specific or day-specific. They may offer cash prizes or free game tokens.

A particularly appealing type of bonus is the Progressive Jackpot, which starts out at a particular level (say, $500), but as each day passes without anyone qualifying to win the jackpot, an additional amount (say, $50) is then added to it. The pot grows this way until someone wins the whole kit-and-kaboodle, after which the jackpot is then reset to its starting level.

Similar to bonuses, promotions are time-based, special events, ordinarily with prizes that are larger and more enticing than usual, sometimes including vacations and automobiles and such.

Software/Graphics

Upon reading a few online casino reviews, you'll quickly notice that there are only a handful of online casino software programs that most online casinos use, namely: Microgaming, Cryptologic, RealTime Gaming, and PlayTech. You will, however, also find the occasional online casino with its own proprietary software.

Each software brand has its own strengths and weaknesses, many of which are quite subjective. You may therefore wish to find an online casino reviewer whose opinions on casinos (or software platforms) that you're already familiar with, you seem to share. That way, you can trust his or her opinion when they praise or condemn a particular online casino software for its:

- Speed and smoothness of game play

- Reliability of the software

- Usability of the interface

- Table view options (Bird's Eye or 3D Player-Centered)

- Selection of automated features (auto-post blinds, preselect bid/fold buttons)

This is also the section of the online casino review where you'll find information on how players are represented in the game (text, icons, flags, avatars), and the quality of the graphics and sound (including background sounds and sound effects).

Games

In this part of the online casino review, you'll find out exactly what games (and how many varieties of each) you can play at each online casino. Games may include Craps, Baccarat, Blackjack, Roulette, Keno, Video Poker, Slots, and others.

Payouts/Cashouts/Security

Here in the online casino review is where you'll learn about the promptness, reliability, and security of payouts. You'll find out about third party audits that the online casino receives (and whether they publicly post the results or not) of their payout percentages and/or the random number generators their games use. You'll learn of affiliations the online casino may have with organizations that require online casinos meet certain ethical standards and comply with certain codes.

Customer Support

Lastly, this is the section of the online casino review that describes the ways available to you for contacting customer support (toll-free phone, email, live chat), the hours (preferably 24/7), and most importantly, the quality (ie. how courteous and responsive).

Weight loss diet plan health food delivery services

When it comes to weight loss creativity and innovation, body fat wonders never cease to amaze you. Consider that now, both your taste preferences and palette can delve into freshly prepared, highly effective, and even completely delicious meals delivered right to your home via weight loss diet plan health food delivery services.

Essentially, what you have here is weight loss diet plan health food delivery services for body fat reduction support. This is a creative health food delivery services solution that solves at least one of four major obstacles most dieters face in the quest for a better body.

Common weight loss diet plan obstacles include the following:

Lack of Know-How - (Solution): Professional chefs, coupled with and supported by the bona fide expertise of nutritionists, bodybuilding, weight management, and personal trainers, help make it a lot easier for you to take part in successful and effective health food diet plan achievement by eating foods that taste good, as well as supporting negative energy balance needed to lose body fat.

Lack of Money - (Solution): There is much controversy and debate over whether or not being in great shape with maximized performance ability is truly costly, or merely a basic sacrifice that one chooses to make in order to attain more self-satisfying, long-term, weight loss diet plan success. Perhaps you notice that typical junk foods don’t really cost you much. Yet, they also leave you high and dry in terms of healthy meal diet plan weight loss support. Probably, like other things worthwhile in this life we live, items that provide consistent, reliable service come with a slightly higher ticket price. Yet, weight loss diet plan food delivery services strongly appear to keep your financial outlay at reasonable minimums. Lack of cash need stop no one from attaining the level of fitness they highly desire and truly work to achieve. Less of the bad things and more of the good remains part of a smart, highly recommended, professional health food delivery strategy. Weight loss diet planning is not about money; it’s about awareness, commitment, and dedication.

Lack of Motivation - (Solution): For many, it’s hard to get started on almost any weight loss diet plan at all. Even for some, simply getting up in the morning proves a chore in itself. Yet, a good weight loss diet plan remains an essential part of the body fat reduction process. Without such advance body fat planning or strategy, you leave yourself wide open to yo-yo dieting behavior. That is, you try one weigh loss approach for a while, it fails you; then you return to where you started, feeling frustrated and doubtful about your ability to attaint consistent and lasting body fat results. Viable healthy meal food delivery services augment your drive to achieve weight loss results by providing your body with not only physical fuel in the way of food energy, but also helps you release your mental powers with added focus on losing weight. Liking gaining an extra, customized, personalized, or specialized tool to cut excess fat away from your body… diet meal plan food delivery gives you extra options and more alternatives to healthy eating behavior.

Lack of Time - (Solution): To lose body weight effectively, it is important that you be able to concentrate and focus on the daily chores you constantly face. Time management contributes to peace of mind and reducing undue stress, which is counterproductive to weight loss achievement.

Probably the greatest fact you can take home with you, in regard to diet meal planning and health food delivery, is this: Convenience need no longer be a stumbling block to your body fat success. Imagine the power of having professional, caring, educated, and specialized experts affordably prepare your meals CORRECTLY, virtually each and every day, so that you can be as free as possible to reach body fat and weight loss goals effectively, safely, reliably, enjoyably, and in good taste, too.

Being successful at weight loss will almost always require that you do at least three things with as much accuracy and precision as possible. You must keep your health food or weight loss diet plan, plus:

1. Maintain a daily negative energy balance.

2. Monitor your input and output, carefully keeping accurate records of your progress and failures, too. (Yes, record failures too, so that you can fix them and avoid future repetition.)

3. Challenge and engage your body with gradually increasing, higher energy action of intentionally longer durations. (This is how you build and develop maximum endurance, energy, power, stamina, and strength.)

Adding weight loss diet plan food delivery services to your above action plan propels body fat reduction success rates to optimized attainment levels.

Take a good look at weight loss diet plan health food delivery services in the mindset of losing body fat with additional commitment and reachable body fat goal support. Without proper health food diet plan eating habits, even the best exerciser struggles with losing weight because it’s practically all about calories. Exercise can only increase calories out, depending upon your level of fitness and the intensity at which you can stand to operate.

Yet, with or without exercise, health food delivery diet planning virtually always scores points for you in body fat achievement because the everlasting body fat equation remains true:

ENERGY IN (that’s the food you eat), minus ENERGY-OUT (that’s the exercise you do), equals ENERGY BALANCE (that’s the amount you weigh right now). In a nutshell, if your health food weight loss diet plan remains simple, effective, and delicious, then you can stick with it and get the results and rewards you desire or attempt to reach. Easy or not, health food diet planning is necessary, and weight loss diet plan food delivery services can help you with this challenging task.

Learning about your land rover brakes

Without brakes, a vehicle would surely be hurtling itself and its passengers to danger. And yes, crashes, collisions, and accidents would constantly be happening. What a brake does is it slows down or completely stops the movement or motion of a vehicle. It also keeps the vehicle from going any further if there are other forces that make it move. This is accomplished because the brake pads on the brakes provide friction which makes the vehicle actually slow down or stop.

That is the very reason as per why vehicles, like Land Rover vehicles, need to replace and change their brakes every now and then. Friction causes the life of these brakes to shorten. Each time it is used wears it down a little bit and it also gets used up which is the reason why brakes are oftentimes replaced many times over throughout the lifetime of a vehicle.

So when do you need to replace the brakes, or brake pads of your vehicle? Try to look at your brakes. You would notice that there are actually built in wear indicators which have been specially crafted so as to assist you in knowing when you need to change your brakes. These indicators actually have been crafted so as to be able to make noise to alert and let you know that they need replacing. Did you ever notice any squealing noises? That is the brake indicator.

But do not just completely rely your brakes. After all, these brakes and the brake pads are just a part of the whole brake system of your vehicle. You and your vehicle still need the assistance of brake fluid. If your brake system does not have enough brake fluid, using the brakes may not even work at all. So always remember to check if your vehicle has the right amount of brake fluid in its reservoir to ensure that the next time you brake, your car would slow down or stop.

What does the brake fluid do? Well, it is what actually acts and gives the signal to the calipers in the brake system to push the brakes so much so that your vehicle’s motion would stop. Checking the amount and level of the brake fluid is something that you can actually do yourself. By just gently moving the reservoir of your brake fluid, you can see if the amount of the brake fluid is just somewhere in between the minimum and the maximum marks.

Debit card stats outline payday loan flexibility

Research from Apacs released earlier this week provided the news that debit card purchases have, for the first time in history, outstripped cash spending in terms of the amount of money splashed out – underlining the flexibility which people today appreciate when it comes to making everyday buys.

The figures showed that in 2005 people spent some Ј89 billion using debit cards, which was a significant increase of nine per cent on the previous year's amount and eclipsed the cash spending total of Ј81 billion.

Indeed, the cash figure was a four per cent decrease on that of 2004 – emphasising the noteworthy swing in spending habits which has manifested itself over a period of 12 months.

Broken down, debit cards formed 37 per cent of Brits' retail spending over the course of 2005 while cash accounted for 34 per cent. With credit cards added into the mix, card spending as a whole made up some two-thirds of overall retail outlay in the UK.

Sandra Quinn, director of communications at APACS ( apacs. org. uk ), spoke of the path which spending patterns have taken over the past couple of years, saying: "At the end of 2004, we saw total UK spending on plastic overtake cash for the first time, signalling a real sea change in our payment habits.

'This change was mainly driven by debit card use. The 2005 figures show that this trend is continuing with debit card spending in retail outlets crashing through the cash barrier for the first time ever."

She also noted the general cultural change which debit cards have precipitated, observing that businesses are ever more receptive to card purchases and continuing: "However it is also being led by us as customers - debit cards have been around in the UK for almost 20 years so we now have an entire generation of shoppers who readily delve for their debit card instead of cash."

Debit card users who require a payday loan benefit greatly from the fact that My Payday Loan ( mypaydayloan. co. uk ) pays their sum of between Ј80 and Ј1,000 directly into the borrower's account – usually within 24 hours. The convenience and expediency of this allied with the flexibility provided by carrying a debit card is a winning combination for those who require a spendable sum of money swiftly.

Of course, a payday loan is equally handy for those who prefer to make cash purchases – holding an advantage over longer-term forms of credit if your needs are immediate and confined to a relatively small loan. Perhaps you have an unexpectedly high bill to pay or a special event to fund – if so, some short-term cash can come in useful and be spent using a variety of methods.

Interestingly, one such time-honoured method is, according to the Apacs survey, in decline. Amounts spent using cheques fell by 14 per cent in 2005 to a relatively meagre Ј9 billion – showing that, while this is still a perfectly decent means of spending your payday loan, it is perhaps becoming undesirable when placed alongside the swiftness of card transactions, especially with the recent advent of chip and PIN.

Using antioxidant food for health

Fighting against diseases such as cancer – and maintaining a healthy lifestyle – has become something of a pastime among those who are tuned in to continuing research. And what research has shown is an ever-present connection between diet and the sustenance of the body’s health. Antioxidants – the buzz word of modern health talk – have garnered quite a bit of attention as of late, as has those foods that contain them. Antioxidant food varies in is form but provides consistent results – to help protect the body against illness.

Antioxidant food contains nutrients that work to combat free radicals – those molecules in the body that attack healthy cells. Free radicals develop from molecules that become unstable due to poor diet as well as environmental factors such as smoking. Molecules are considered unstable when they begin attacking healthy cells to find their missing electrons. These rebel molecules have been linked to many different types of cancer.

Those nutrients found in antioxidant food work to stabilize these rabid molecules. Included in antioxidant food are such things as fresh fruits and vegetables - fruits such as apricots, watermelon, and tomatoes and tomato products, all of which contain lycopene; green leafy vegetables such as spinach which contain the antioxidant lutein; vegetables rich in beta-carotene such as carrots, pumpkin, and sweet potatoes; and foods rich in Vitamins A (eggs and milk), C (fruits and vegetables), and E (nuts and broccoli) that have also been shown to be high in antioxidants. On the more enjoyable side – dark chocolate and even red wine have been shown to be acceptable antioxidant food.

Finding antioxidant food that satisfies health requirements as well as meeting your specific enjoyment requirements, can take a little time. Work with your doctor to identify antioxidant food that you can implement into your lifestyle. Your effort will be rewarded with a healthier body and a life of ongoing vitality.

How are you inventing your life today

:
"Organisms do not experience environments, they create them."
-- From A Simpler Way, by Margaret Wheatley

Walking down Lincoln Avenue in Portsmouth, I am struck by the beauty of the day – forsythia, tulips and daffodils, bright sun, warm breeze – and the freedom and privilege I have to walk in a healthy body, through a friendly neighborhood, of my own volition. I think about how much I take for granted, and how easy it is to feel centered and content when life is easy, flowing, and conflict free.

The day before was not so. It was rainy, windy, and cold. I hadn't slept and woke up short-tempered and irritable. (Will winter never end?!) A project I'd been putting off could not be postponed any longer, and I knew I had to finish it even though I had no inspiration for it. My body ached from hard aikido practice the night before, and I felt tired and lacked energy. I opened a window and spilled a potted plant all over my office floor. And the last piece of my favorite toasting bread had mysteriously disappeared from its storage place. Tomorrow – who knows? As my friend Carol says, life can fall on your head at any moment.

So how do I walk my talk, change my attitude, adjust my goals, and reinvent my life even when I don’t feel like it? I kept thinking: You can do this, this is great, exactly what you look for – ideal opportunities to practice . . . center, breathe, laugh. Sure, it's easy to be centered when things are going your way. This is the perfect day to practice – when they aren't.

I'm embarrassed to say that it was still hard. The only good news that I was able to give myself was that I noticed. I could see I was having a "pity party," which was a step in the right direction. Friend and colleague, Joy Jacobs, calls this ability to step outside our selves and acknowledge our reactions meta-communication. My meta-communicator is the role that says, Hey, Judy, you're really having a strong reaction to that plant falling over. Whoah! Are you sure you want to throw it through the window? Right, probably not.

The meta-communicator is the insulation between my reaction and my response. It keeps me from getting dragged down an emotionally reactive path that I will probably regret. The ability to meta-communicate is a sign of emotional intelligence, analogous to self-awareness, and essential to self-control. Without the ability to meta-communicate, I get lost in the emotion and identify with it. There is no distance, no separation between me and my mental state; the attitude, emotion, or mood overrides conscious thought and takes me wherever it wants. I can only talk about the emotion again (like this) when it's played itself out and I regain the ability to see it.

Centering awakens the meta-communicator. Taking a moment of literal and figurative inspiration – breathing and connecting to my power source – gives me the time and the space to decide if I want to get dragged off or not.

Pity parties are fun sometimes. I can enjoy getting together telephonically or in person with special friends. We dress up in our best long-suffering attitudes and moan about this event or that person, how much work there is to do and how little time. We bring our meta-communicators along, and we laugh at ourselves in the midst of our complaining. It's a lot more fun to whine with awareness.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, "If you don't like what's happening in your life, change your mind." How do you like what's happening in your life at the moment? I realize it may be a lot more challenging than winter weather in May. Still, gently experiment with changing your relationship to life events, and see what happens.

When I am willing and able to do this, to change my mind, everything changes. It begins by noticing my reactive state.
I'm upset.
Okay - Upset Energy. How can I use it in a way that's congruent with my values and vision?

I take charge of it, before it takes charge of me.
I begin to travel a path of power and presence, instead of a path of reactivity and regret.

As I place that bit of padding between my reaction and my response, I reclaim my power. I reconnect with what is really important. Why am I here? What do I want to contribute to this workplace, this family unit, this relationship? What are my hopes for this conversation? How will I impact this meeting?

More sunny days and uplifting moments are on the horizon. But whatever the external or internal weather conditions, I am protected by an inner spring of insight that is always awake, aware, and available to be turned on at any moment. And I remember all that I have to be grateful for, including the privilege of having unsettling emotions.

How are you inventing your life today, this moment? Is life a struggle, or does it flow? It's possible that the answers are really up to you.

If it weren t for add we might not have the theory of relativity

Were you a question machine when you were a kid? How come dogs can poop outside, but you won't let me? Why do raspberries have seeds? How do you know for sure that Santa Claus is watching me every single day? Doesn't he have more important things to do?

If you were lucky, your parents made up some kind of answer, if they didn't know it already. But, more often than not, kids that ask a lot of questions are told to keep still. If you have ADD, this was probably you, and it probably made you feel weird because people just got so exasperated with all your questions.

I know I was just determined to figure out how things work--everything. My brain wouldn't rest until I knew why things are the way they are.

With many kids, ADD doesn't just go away when they grow up. So, ADD adults are still asking questions, wondering about everything from their job to their baby's development. The whole thing about that is that our questions make other people uncomfortable. When we ask a whole bunch of questions, it just throws them off track. But we see things from so many different angles! Yet, because there are so many more linear-thinkers than adults with ADD, we're the ones who feel out of place.

Why?

That's because most people just hate to ask questions at all. They feel stupid, and get embarrassed. When we're there asking tons of questions, it frustrates them and throws everything out of whack.

Yet, getting answers to questions that nobody else really thinks about can be very empowering. Not only are you able to spark new ideas that lead to bigger and better plans at the office, and you may get a million-dollar plan of your own. You need to take that idea and get started with it immediately! Right away, not sometime... Now.

So, what if it's not a million-dollar idea, after all? What if it kind of sucks? Oh, well. Finish what you started anyway. Never put the first thing away because you're already thinking about the second and third things that you want to work on.

Just don't do it! Finish your first idea, and maybe use parts of the 2nd and 3rd ideas that work with what you're already working on. You'll have a gazillion more ideas after these, so don't worry about losing just a couple. You really aren't losing them at all. You're using them to make your original project stronger.

Here's the thing: Never stop asking questions, even when the people around you are fidgeting and uncomfortable. Then, be sure to implement your great idea, even if you find out later that it sucks. Trial and error is what it's about, not trial and abandon.

Think about this: If it wasn't for Einstein's ADD, were would we be in the development of the theory of relativity?

Wabi-sabi the beauty of imperfection

Ring the bells that still can ring.

Forget your perfect offering.

There is a crack, a crack in everything.

That’s how the light gets in.

--Leonard Cohen

Tucked away in the deepest heart of Japan, somewhere beyond city life, probably beyond country life, resting in a humble shack on a simple shelf in a nearly bare room, you can find a really powerful idea about beauty. This idea, this way of life, this way of being, goes against everything the contemporary American culture sells. It goes against perpetually new cars, updated wardrobes and model homes. It is so radical, it goes toe-to-toe with any notion that the way things are ~ even when they are falling apart ~ are not the way things ought to be.

The idea is scoffed at by those who inhumanely offer something more, and bigger and better. Yet if we can find our way past the standard-issue scoffing, hunt down this old idea, and recognize it as the pearl of great price, we can heal these painful beauty obsessions of ours. Really, we can.

What is this simple idea that has the power to take on an entire capitalistic culture, or at least the capitalistic culture within us? Wabi Sabi, the art and practice of honoring the imperfect.

Yes, there actually is a whole field of study and devotion to this very topic we are starving for. Wabi Sabi celebrates the cracked pot, the aged desk, the beaten up fishing rod, and the rusting bed frame that has become an outdoor border for a flower “bed” in the yard. It is Wabi, the “humble,” alongside Sabi, “the beauty of the natural progression of time.” (It is also much more and far deeper than that, but this is a start.) It leaves behind the pursuit of perfection while bringing appreciation to the simple, unaffected beauty of things as they are.

Which includes us. You and me, Wabi Sabi. The real us, below all our crazy attempts at being how we are supposed to be and all of our insecurities because we still have not pulled it off. Weathered by time, all our cockiness worn off, like the shine of brass on buckles and bangles, when we are Wabi Sabi we are simply beautiful because we exist. Nothing flashy. No need for a six-figure contract with options, bells and whistles. Just us, with our weathered faces that have seen every expression known to humanity, our often sagging or misshapen breasts, and the hips and thighs that have carried us through our history, the good times and the bad.

So… Getting older? Wabi Sabi’s got no problem with that. Wabi Sabi says that older things reveal their true nature in time. In many native cultures, a woman is not allowed to speak on topics requiring wisdom until she is at least fifty years old. These cultures get that the Wabi Sabi women have something special, maybe even sacred, to say. Yes, getting older is a good thing.

Looking weathered? Wonderful, you beautiful piece of Wabi Sabi driftwood, you. Gone from your original intended form to a new form through the slow tumbling of the ocean of life. How natural. How normal. How stunning. How Wabi Sabi.

Disheartened because you can’t have and do all “they” say you have to? How fabulous. Do a Wabi Sabi job of it. Then sleep the good sleep that comes after a simple, honest days work that you have let go of. Oh, heck, why wait? Why not take a Wabi Sabi nap right now?

Tired and near penniless from continually acquiring bright and shiny new playthings? Perfect time to say enough really is enough. The sun still shines, a free-for-all that is free for all. (By the way, one thing I’ve noticed about Wabi Sabi people. They actually see sunrises and sunsets on a regular basis.)

I know, I know. You hear what I’m saying. But you are still worried about what will happen if you get off the treadmill. So think on this: There Are Six Billion People In The World. Do you really think you are going to beat them all in the game of life? Is it really worth all that you have to do, give and give up (like your real life, for example), so you can master money, love, education, self-esteem, sexuality, heath, parents, children, and career, by the time you are—what—29?

It seems ridiculous to have to remind ourselves that life itself is birth and death, up and down, movement from newborn to middle age to older to ancient. That it is sheer insanity to wait to be happy until we have mastered the ability to balanced all of life on the head of a pin while standing on one hand. Yet we do, indeed, seem to need to remind ourselves. Often.

So let me remind you. There is nothing wrong with you. Even if you have problems. Problems are a fact of the human condition. How you co-exist with your problems is all that you can change. And since Wabi Sabi acknowledges that even how you are co-existing with your problems will inevitably be imperfect, you’re there. You’ve already arrived at the ideal Wabi Sabi state. Now, you can live. Just Live.

Siberia russia part 6 when stairs attack in the khabarovsk train station

In this continuing series, we cover my move from San Diego to Chita, Siberia to be a professor at Chita State Technical University. We pick up the story going to the train station in Khabarovsk to catch the Trans-Siberian Railroad.

Day 4!

If you’ve been reading this series on NomadJournalTrips. com, you know my original travel estimate was 2 Ѕ days from San Diego to Chita, Russia. Well, day 4 has arrived and I am just getting on the train. This horrible time estimate is evidence of a poor math education. I blame the American education system!

I never could figure out those math hypotheticals, “If a train is going south at “x” speed and a cyclist is going north at “x” speed, when will they meet?” When are they going to meet? More like, “What the heck is cyclist going to look like WHEN they meet?” What about his family, not to mention the nightmares suffered by the conductor. I mean, really, who can do math under such circumstances?

Stairs…Evil, Evil Stairs

At the Intourist hotel, we arranged for train tickets to Chita. By we, I mean my friend Grae did everything. For $27, “we” had arranged a private berth and all was good. With a good nights sleep, we headed down from the room and out into the…pouring rain. A local was kind enough to give us a ride to the train station and all seemed good. After a bit of pointing, extreme facial expressions and so on, we discovered our train was running about an hour slow. We hunkered down and did a bit of people watching.

As we sat, I pondered my luggage. I had a large hiking backpack and something I called “the lump.” The lump was an extremely large duffle bag with tiny wheels on one-end and plastic bars running down the flat side/bottom. In theory, you could roll it or drag it anywhere. Mine was black, wet and weighed about 70 pounds. Before you snicker, keep in mind I was going to Siberia for a year. What would you take? Still, I had an uneasy feeling, but couldn’t really figure out why.

Our hour was up and it was time to head to the track platform. Like many European train stations, one had to actually walk down stairs, through a tunnel and then back up stairs to get to your platform. This is not the way it works in San Diego. It also doesn’t rain in San Diego. Rain, 70 pound bag on wheels, plastic bars, stairs…I think you get the picture.

The stairs were packed as I shuffled forward pulling the lump behind me. You would be proud. I made the first flight without maiming anyone or being slapped. Just as I stepped down the second flight, “thou was nudgeth from behind.”

Time slowed.

The lump hit me in the back of the knees. I fell back onto the lump. In a transformation beyond my primitive understanding of quantum physics, the lump became a high performance bobsled. Down I went.

Still in slow motion, I couldn’t help but notice the agility of the Russians in the stairwell. Some jumped up an ornamental shelf running down the stairs. Overweight individuals sucked it up and suddenly became thin. Miraculously, not one soul was hit on my way to the bottom. My landing was uneventful, which is to say there wasn’t a loud smack on the wall at the bottom of the stairs.

I jumped up and turned to see if anyone was injured. There was total silence. Faces just stared back at me. Apparently, the only thing injured was my ego and skin, which was turning a dark shade of red. Well, I like to make an impression! I vehemently prayed that none of them were going to Chita.

Everyone started moving again and not a word was said. Alas, the lump was not so accommodating when it came to climbing up the stairs on the other end of the tunnel.

How to plant spring flower bulbs

Spring is the favorite season of many. It is a time of rebirth, renewal, and rejuvenation. One of the greatest joys of spring is the beautiful assortment of flowers. You can get this joy at home by planting spring flower bulbs. These are bulbs that bloom in early spring while other plants are still developing.

There are many spring flowering bulbs, but some of the most popular are crocus, tulip, narcissus, and hyacinth. These bulbs should be planted before the ground freezes, preferably in late September or early October. This enables them to develop a strong root system before the first frost.

Spring flower bulbs should be planted in an area that drains well. Bulbs will rot in standing water. They must also receive adequate sunshine—at least six hours daily. The soil doesn’t need any special treatment, but it should be loose and workable. If you are working a new area, you might want to add some compost or peat moss.

When it comes time to dig the hole, follow the package directions. Most bulbs will require a depth of six to eight inches, but loosen the soil for an additional four inches. Place the bulb in the ground with the pointy end facing up. Pack the dirt firmly and water thoroughly.

Spring flower bulbs require very little care. Simply water them occasionally, and add a mulch cover when cold weather comes. With a little water, sunshine, and luck, you will be blessed with beautiful, fragrant blooms in early spring.

How to eliminate your golf slice quickly and easily

Here's a really good tip that may help you to get rid of your slice. Best of all, it's really pretty simple once you get the hang of it, and understand why it's being used.

Chances are that you have battled with a slice at some point in your golfing days. To be completely direct with you, dealing with a slice really sucks. It hurts your golf game in many more ways than one.

Luckily, it's fairly easy to fix. I cannot claim that this small tip will completely cure your slice, but there's a good chance that it will. I hope it does.

First off, please understand that when you come into the impact zone, there are really only 2 factors that can determine the "shape" of ball flight.

1. The angle of the club face at impact.

2. The Path the club is taking at impact.

So, here's a few things you should concentrate on.

Try to keep your leading shoulder "down" on the ball through impact. This is called staying strong through impact. Many times the leading shoulder (left shoulder if right handed) flies up before impact. Now just for a minute, think about what that does to the club head when it's in the impact zone.

Get up from the computer and actually go though the motions slowly. Let your leading shoulder fly up as you approach impact and you'll actually be able feel and see the clubface coming from an outside-in path. That’s the cause of the slice you are battling.

See, golf is all about thinking and analyzing your shots to get better. A huge part of this game is understanding "why" you're getting a certain result, and the physics behind that result. Thinking through your golf swing will provide huge dividends if you're willing to invest the time it takes.

So what can you do to correct that flying shoulder? Well, for starters, try to learn to keep your leading shoulder strong. Keep that shoulder "Down" on the ball all the way through impact, even after the ball is gone and flying straight down the fairway.

So, after impact the leading shoulder is still down. The triangle between your shoulders and chest is still present. Most importantly, the body has NOT gotten ahead of the hands. This is a HUGE distinction. As you may notice, the left shoulder is actually higher than the right shoulder. So what do I mean when I say "leading shoulder down"?

You have to envision yourself from the back looking down on the ball. When I say "down", I mean that the leading shoulder and chest is still facing the ball through impact.

So even though it may seem like the leading shoulder is higher than the trailing shoulder, it's still facing the ball at impact. NOT TOWARDS THIRD BASE in comparison to the ball. If your leading shoulder was facing towards third base at impact, which would mean that you have let the leading shoulder fly up.

Furthermore, hand action is huge in this game. You must learn to release your hands correctly through the ball. This means that you release the hands while the leading shoulder is still "down", or facing the ball.

The key is to let your arms release through the ball, while your left shoulder is "Down" on the ball. To do this you will need to rotate your forearms correctly, and use your leading ELBOW (not shoulder) as a hinge. So another way to explain this movement would be that your hands are still moving towards the target, but your leading elbow has almost stopped.

Keep the leading shoulder down and let your arms and hands release through the ball and you will see the ball go farther and higher. This will take a while to get used to, but once it clicks, the results will be outstanding.

New technical writer use the persona to create the most useful section of your user document

OVERVIEW

A good User Document includes sections on how to set up, use, and care for the product. However, to create a great User Document , the technical writer should use the Persona, generated in the analysis of the User/Reader, to create the topics for the most useful section of the User Document. This article describes this procedure.

THE MOST USEFUL SECTION OF A USER DOCUMENT

The most useful section of a User Document is the one that helps the User get what he/she wants/needs done right now!

Writing such a section might seem to be an impossibility. How do you know what the User needs to do now?

The only thing that you, as a writer, can do is to play the odds. That is, determine the topics that have the highest probability of being of interest to your User. And "of interest" means "getting what the User wants done, right now."

We created Persona (an almost-real representation of your product's User) in another article in the "New Technical Writer" series (see the links in the "Resources" or "Author Information" section of this article). We can use the Persona to create a topic list for this section.

USING YOUR PERSONA

This step in using your Persona is missed by almost all User Documents that I have seen. Yet this step will result in a User Document that is most satisfying to your Reader. Here it is:

Imagine your Persona using your product. Now, what are the main things that your Persona will want to do with your product.

As an example we will use a photo editing program (Acme FotoPhixer, a hypothetical product from a hypothetical company) that comes bundled with a point and shoot digital camera. Our Persona is a typical user of such a camera.

Ask: What does that Persona want to do with Acme FotoPhixer?

The short answer is that they want to improve their photos. HOW can they improve their photos with Acme FotoPhixer? In OUR words (not the words of the User) we could tell them how to:

* Rotate

* Crop

* Red-eye removal

* Adjust brightness & contrast

* Removing unwanted items from the photo

* Focus/Blur

* Save

* Print

* Share

These names are what we, the photography experts might use. However, "crop" may be meaningless to our Persona. In fact, we could move crop into "Removing unwanted items from the photo."

The "Focus/Blur" topic is interesting. If a photo is out of focus or blurred, there is really nothing that our software can do to improve it. However our Reader does not know this, but still wants to do it. We should include topic with this text: "It is impossible to fix the focus or remove blurring in a photograph. You might be able to improve this using the [Sharpen Effect] tool in FotoPhixer." (The [] specifies a reference to the topic in the User Document.)

DON'T HIDE THIS SECTION

If your Reader cannot quickly find what he/she wants to do in your User Document, then the document has failed. Since we created this section to answer the User's pressing needs for the product, then we must make this section very accessible to the User -- they have to be able to find it easily.

"Fixing (Improving) Your Picture" is a PERFECT, User-oriented title. That is the correct title for this section. Don't bury this gold under titles such as: "Tutorial" or "Use FotoPhixer's Tools." These titles do not suggest answers to the User's questions.

You should make this section very easy to find in the User Document. It's the key section of the User Document. It has the information that most Readers want, most of the time (by your analysis). Place it prominently in the User Document.

SATISFYING THE READER IS EASIER THAN YOU THINK

Producing this section is easier than you think.

First, imagine that you were NOT going to include this section. Your User Document would still have to cover all of the features, tools, and user interactions for the product. You need to do that to satisfy your boss. It's also logical. If a feature is not described, then why is it in the product?

Thus you have created a topic list for a "classical" User Document.

Now we create our User-oriented section, "Fixing Your Picture." Here are the steps:

1. List each of the topics for fixing a picture, using titles that the Reader will understand.

2. Provide a brief overview, perhaps with a picture showing before and after the use of this fixing method.

3. Then list the steps for that topic, and provide links to the documentation for the relevant tools for each step

Done!

Actually, I would recommend using what I call a "Visual Index," which is described in the links in the "Resources" or "Author Information" section of this article.

Within Document Re-usability

We could call this organization method "within document re-usability." Here the writing for a topic exists as an item in the "reference" section of the User Document. By referring to that item when it is needed for performing a User-oriented task, we make the text do double duty. This results in reusability within the document.

HOW TO GET THE TIME TO WRITE THIS SECTION

Put less detailed effort into the documentation for the product's features that will be rarely used. For example, FotoPhixer includes tools to make the image look like it's made of stone, or produce 3D effects, etc. These are rarely used, and have a similar set of controls. Instead of detailing the use of each of these rarely used features, write a global usage, describe the controls, encourage the User to experiment, and remind them of the un-do and cancel capabilities.

You can create the "most useful" section with the time you save by not thoroughly documenting these rarely-used items.

THE BOTTOM LINE

You can make your User Document much more effective if you think about your User/Reader and what he/she wants to do with the product. Use this information to create an easy to find section in your User Document that meets your Reader's needs.

A beginners guide to blogging how to start a blog

It is logical for a beginners guide to blogging to begin with information on how to start a blog. However, first a brief introduction to what a blog actually is. A blog is nothing more than your online diary or journal, in which you can express your feelings, thoughts, and opinions or even advertise your products. There are few rules apart from keeping it clean. For that reason they come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and designs, and your blog page is literally yours to anything you want with.

You can include pictures, hyperlinks to your websites, MP3s and videos. Much depends on the type of blog you have and who is the provider, but Wordpress allows more than Blogger or Blogspot, especially if you have downloaded it to your own website. However, it is also more complicated and you might prefer to start off easy and then work your way up as you become more familiar with what you are doing. Many cPanel web hosts offer Wordpress facilities.

The basic components of a blog are:

Title: You can use the title to label your posting.

Category: You can add a category to keep blogs on similar topics together.

Body: This is the main content of the blog.

Trackback: This allows other sites to link back to your blog.

Permalink: This is the URL that goes with every blog that you write.

Comments: This allows readers to make comments on your blog – some good, and some bad.

By means of just one or two templates you can easily create new pages. It’s a bit like having a website and copying your home page as a template for all the rest of the pages, only the blog template is blank with spaces for the title, category and all the other aspects of your blog. The blogging websites that you sign up with offer a number of templates and you can choose one and literally start blogging immediately.

Blogging can be more that just your own personal thing, and you can join groups that blog about specific topics, such as football, movies, music, blogging, etc, etc. You can all share your expertise and knowledge and some are literally operating as forums. You can also use your blog to advertise a product, and to drive traffic to your website, while others have no website and use their blog as their sole communications window on the internet.

I could go on all day about what you can do and, sometimes, cannot do with a blog, but the best way is to get started and then find what you are capable of. The best way is to log onto the blog provider of your choice and sign up for a blog. Most newcomers to blogging find it easiest to start blogging from a provider’s website, and then graduating to installing blogging software on their own website

This is a bit trickier, but it allows you use all the plugins that allow total personalization of your blog so that it is completely unlike that of anybody else. You cannot use plugins when you run your blog from the provider’s site, whether it is Wordpress or any other blog. You cannot beat having your own blog software and being able to design any page that you want.

However, although this sounds great to be able to do, on the whole you are likely best to start blogging from the blog hosting site, and then graduate to your own website once you are comfortable with blogging. You will have enough to take in and learn when you upload to your own web space without having to worry about how blogging works.

Blogging is fantastic fun, and it can also be very profitable. However, there are specific techniques involved in making money using blogs, and it is very easy to get your fingers burnt if you are unaware of the pitfalls and the right way to do it. Nevertheless, blogging can be very rewarding, both personally and financially, so best of luck, and get blogging now. Don’t leave it a minute longer because you might have a lot to learn yet.

Once you have learned how to start a blog, then you can think of running your own from your own website.

How to decorate your bedroom using feng shui

The bedroom is one of the most important rooks in the home and is associated with rest, relaxation, and comfort. One needs to be sufficiently rested to perform well during the day.

According to the laws of Feng Shui, If the main door of a home is directly opposite the bedroom door, the occupant of that room will face legal problems. Position a small decoration or a piece of furniture to interrupt the line of passage.

If you have bunk beds in a bedroom they should follow these Feng Shui Rules.

One's head should not touch the ceiling or this could result in ill health. The top of the mattress on the bottom bunk should also be at least 16 inches off the ground.

It is not favorable to keep a clock immediately behind or directly in front of a sleeper. Clocks should be placed on either side of the bed. If you have your clock on the headboard it should be placed on a stand beside the bed or on the floor.

A light bulb directly above the head of the bed will turn the sleeper in to a nervous wreck. If hung above the centre of the bed, it will cause stomach disorders. The light should be placed to the side of the bed.

The dressing table should not be placed at the foot of a bed as it adversely affects health. Move the dressing table to any other position.

You can draw on the strengths of the elements by choosing a headboard that corresponds to your element as shown in the paragraphs below.

Square or rectangular shaped headboards are for people who represent wood and earth elements. It is also good for professionals, as it encourages stability and offers support.

Oval or wavy-shaped headboards are ideal for people who belong to the element water and also for artists, musicians and designers.

Angular headboards or those with spiked points, these are not recommended for anyone. It relates to the element fire. It prevents people from getting a good night's sleep.

Sports equipment bags for convenient team travel

Sports teams usually travel frequently for competitions and games, and each team member must carry certain belongings and equipment for the trips. Sports equipment bags provide an easy way to carry these belongings while also building team morale. Team logo bags are duffle bags or other similar bags with a printed team logo. Sometimes even the players' names and numbers are printed on the bags.

When traveling overnight or on a day trip, many sports equipment bags have plenty of room for a uniform, personal hygiene items, shoes, and even protective gear. Team bags come in your team's colors and have the logo custom printed professionally to give a uniform look. Team bags are often made of very durable materials to prevent wear and tear for the active lifestyle.

Who Uses Team Player Bags?

Any sports team or scholastic team can benefit by using team player bags. Team bags are designed to fit any need. Those involved in active sports such as basketball, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and football can use sports equipment bags for local games or games that are played in other towns. Either way, the duffle bags are convenient for keeping all their necessary items for the game.

Swim teams can use team logo bags for their swimsuit and gear. Some swimming team bags are designed to be water-resistant and include a wet pocket. Those who take gymnastics classes can use team bags to keep all their gymnastics gear. For lacrosse teams, there are special team bags made with a Velcro section to carry a Crosse. There are also special "Crosse" logo bags made to accommodate two Crosses. For cheerleaders, team bags are designed for various levels of competition. Hockey players can benefit from specialized hockey stick bags or hockey garment bags.

Team bags are also convenient for non-sports teams or clubs such as chess clubs, honor clubs, beta clubs, science teams, and college fraternities.

Finding the Right Sports Equipment Bags for Your Team

Before buying sports equipment bags, consider the quality of the bags first and foremost. Bags for sports teams should be made to withstand frequent carrying and use. They should have reinforced stitching and be made of thick, durable material. Buy team logo bags that are appropriate for your team's sport. Student credit cards -- what you need to know before you sign up

Every college student can tell you that they have seen several offers for student credit cards on campus. These credit card offers are everywhere. They come in bags at the student book store, in the student newspaper, and of course, online. But a student credit card is usually hiding some traps for the unsuspecting college student. If you are thinking about college student credit cards, consider these factors before you sign up.

Pre-Approval

Most college student credit cards lure young people in with the promise that they are pre-approved for the card. This pre-approval process normally involves checking your credit and deciding based on a number of factors that you would be a good candidate for credit. If you have established good credit, the pre-approval process confirms that you are able and willing to pay back your debt on time and in full.

However, most college students do not have any credit. So the pre-approval process simply involves confirming that you are a student. This should make you suspicious. What it means is that the company is willing to gamble that you won’t pay back the debt, providing them with added interest that could be in the hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Interest Rate

This leads us to the issue of an interest rate. For most student credit cards, the interest rate is enormously high. This is due to the fact that they are taking a gamble on whether or not you can pay them back. However, in order to lure you into signing up, they may offer an interest free period.

This interest free period also comes with some traps. If you miss a payment or are late once or twice with your minimum payment, you could be subject to the delinquency rate, which is as high as thirty percent in some cases.

Minimum Payment

Most people will look at a student credit card and think it will be easy to handle because of the low minimum payment due each month. But if you only pay this minimum payment each time, you will end up with an enormous amount of interest due. Think about it this way: If you owe one hundred dollars and the minimum payment due is fifteen dollars, you will rack up interest in the remaining eighty-five dollars. If your interest is twenty percent, that’s seventeen dollars added to your next bill. The interest you accumulate is more than you are paying. So your bill will actually get higher the longer you pay rather than lower. Always pay more than the minimum payment.

Good Credit

The benefit to college student credit cards is that you can build up some good credit history with a good payment record over time. So always pay your bill on time and in full if possible. If you can’t pay your student credit card off in full each month, try to at least double the minimum payment. Student credit cards can be your learning tool for a future of responsible financial management.

How to have fun in vegas if you are not a gambler

The casino, when I say this word casino actually several things pop into my mind and I can give you a list of what these things are. But first, I think it is important to say that many people go to Las Vegas and Atlantic City for these reasons, not only just to gamble and this is so important when planning a vacation to Las Vegas.

Sure gambling is the base for all of this, but because of the glitz and glamour of Vegas in the 50's, 60's, and 70's it created a much larger lifestyle than just a bunch of grubby old men sitting around a dingy table playing poker in smoky little poker rooms.

As Vegas transformed into this megalopolis of entertainment and excitement, it gave to you something unique and fun that you just cannot find in another spot on the planet, not even in Atlantic City is it the same.

It gave you gaming and live entertainment with the hottest live acts that circle the globe. Anything from the newest rock 'n' roll to old school rap artists on Las Vegas stages. Comedians from all over perform in Vegas, as well as live magicians like David Copperfield. So it is partly because of splendor like this, and major acts like these coming together in one location that it makes it possible for a place like Vegas to exist. But really Vegas is an anomaly.

So this is what this is really about. Entertainment, food, and relaxation and recreation.

Coming to Las Vegas or even just going to visit a casino in the Caribbean or even in Atlantic City there is just so much more to do than sit around and play slots slowly draining yourself of your hard earned 500 dollars that you had put away solely for playing or entering one of the many poker rooms.

Instead of sitting around all the time eating cheap fried foods that the casinos serve for free while you play, look around or ask someone at the front desk what kind of shows may be happening at the casino in the time you'll be there. Or you could even find out what hot new clubs they host in the area or at the casino itself. Clubs are always great places to meet people that are on vacation and looking to have a fun time with someone new. Meeting new people isn't necessarily one of higher points of sitting at the slot machine for 10 hours a sitting.

Finding a nice restaurant in the area is also a good alternative to just spending another vacation doing the same thing by being in the room and then in the casino and back again never leaving the casino in a whole weeks time. Eating new things will also help broaden your horizons and maybe will help improve your experience of being at the casino when you begin to view it from the outside after being on the inside for so long.

So Finding other experiences at the casino and doing other things will make the whole experience that much better, think how nice it is to do new things and being adventurous on a vacation. And then you will leave feeling more positive about having been in Vegas or Atlantic City.

Where do your fashion bead earrings come from

When I think of beads I think of Africa - South Africa to be exact. There is nothing the Zulu can't make with beads. They sit in Durban, next to the sea on the sidewalk, and the work their miracles with beads: Long beads, thin beads, round beads, small beads, and large beads - Beads of every shape or size. Some beads go into the making of placemats, table mats, doormats or pot covers. Most beads, though, go into the making of Jewelry, and most go into the making of bead earrings.

The Western world also has a history with beads. Neanderthal man is the earliest we find in bead history. These were discovered in France and dated back as far as 38 000 BCE. They were pendants and earrings made from grooved teeth and bones. Other findings include prayer beads dated back to the Middle Ages which are still in use in the Roman Catholic Church today. Also, the "eye bead" was used to meet the age-old need for "protection against evil" - Which is where the saying "evil eye" comes from. The "eye beads" served as protective amulets as it looks like there are eyes on the beads that can see in every direction. They encourage those who look at them to look away from the person who is wearing it and keep him/her safe. In archaeological findings, beads are one of the most common items found in ancient graves, showing that beads have always been popular.

In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries Venetian and Bohemian factories traded glass in Africa through middle men. Here they were worked by Africans into jewelry and sold again, being exported back to the Western World. Europeans exchanged glass beads for almost anything, from beaver pelts in North America, to spices in Indonesia, and then for gold, ivory and slaves in Africa. In Africa, beads are an important part of a communication. In all African societies, adornment, mostly with beads, communicate cultural values. These values are portrayed as a type of symbolic language that shows rank, religion, politics and artistic outlook on life.

In India, the history of jewelry goes back over 5000 years to the prehistoric past. In different regions of India there are styles that are unique to each region. Some work mainly in silver, some use the delicate art of enameling, the temple jewelry concentrate on the setting of semi-precious or precious stones in gold and they are now world famous. The wide variety of silver beads found all over India are also well known.

In India jewelry is made for practically every part of the body in a great variety of ornaments. This ensured that the jewelers and craftspeople of India became very skillful in designing and making Jewelry. Indian jewelry consist of nose rings, earrings, bracelets, tiaras, rings, anklets, amulets and necklaces, in any metal and styles. In some regions designs are inspired by nature. In other regions, gold is used to craft long funnel shaped beads which are used with shells, animal claws and teeth and precious and semi-precious stones. Jewelry is crafted not only for humans but also for the Gods, which is why Indian jewelry is so excellent. In the Western world we take the Bead for granted, but when we truly think of their use they become part of a story in our history that reflects the past and present, and also our future.

Today you find beads wherever you go. In Africa, you find them in every marketplace. In New Zealand, there is an online wholesale bead shop called "Bead Gallery." You only need to do an online search to find beads in your area.

Now that you know the history of the bead, wear your fashion bead earrings knowing they come from a rich history.

3 ways to celebrate independence day

No matter what your traditions are, it is important to celebrate Independence Day. If you live in the US, or are living outside the country and yearning for a bit of home, there is never a better time to celebrate this historic day. Yet, what are some of the best ways to do it? Is this your first 4th of July here? Are you looking for a new way to celebrate? Or, are you heading out on your own firs the first time, looking to start a new tradition?

There are some things that just go hand in hand with Independence Day. You just have to have a picnic, outdoors, under the blazing July sun. But, there is more to it than just that. How about the people you are with? What about where you are at? Don’t forget the food. Let’s break it down.

Traditionally, your 4th of July celebration will happen out of doors. But, this is not necessary if the weather is not right for it. The most traditional of examples of a celebration is a BBQ in which people come to share in good foods and the beautiful weather. It can happen at your home, at a local park, down by the beach or virtually any place that is suitable. Here is a list of things to think about when planning a get together.

Location. Find the right location; make arrangements with park officials if necessary. Make sure there is enough seating, a place to get out of the sun and activities to keep everyone busy.

Food. Plan for easy to make and eat foods. Finger foods work best as people usually are not looking to sit down with a knife and china at this type of a celebration. Look for a few options for everyone, including some that may not enjoy meats, something for those that are looking for alcoholic beverages and a variety of foods. Make it a potluck for an even easier celebration.

Something to do. When it comes to the 4th of July, you do have to give everyone something to do. Whether that is a sport like volleyball or baseball, swimming, or just some fun crafts for kids, get them all busy and having a good time.

Celebrating the 4th of July should be fun and easy to do. Do not over think it and keep it a light atmosphere and you all will have a great time.

On volatility and risk

Volatility is considered the most accurate measure of risk and, by extension, of return, its flip side. The higher the volatility, the higher the risk - and the reward. That volatility increases in the transition from bull to bear markets seems to support this pet theory. But how to account for surging volatility in plummeting bourses? At the depths of the bear phase, volatility and risk increase while returns evaporate - even taking short-selling into account.

"The Economist" has recently proposed yet another dimension of risk:

"The Chicago Board Options Exchange's VIX index, a measure of traders' expectations of share price gyrations, in July reached levels not seen since the 1987 crash, and shot up again (two weeks ago)... Over the past five years, volatility spikes have become ever more frequent, from the Asian crisis in 1997 right up to the World Trade Centre attacks. Moreover, it is not just price gyrations that have increased, but the volatility of volatility itself. The markets, it seems, now have an added dimension of risk."

Call-writing has soared as punters, fund managers, and institutional investors try to eke an extra return out of the wild ride and to protect their dwindling equity portfolios. Naked strategies - selling options contracts or buying them in the absence of an investment portfolio of underlying assets - translate into the trading of volatility itself and, hence, of risk. Short-selling and spread-betting funds join single stock futures in profiting from the downside.

Market - also known as beta or systematic - risk and volatility reflect underlying problems with the economy as a whole and with corporate governance: lack of transparency, bad loans, default rates, uncertainty, illiquidity, external shocks, and other negative externalities. The behavior of a specific security reveals additional, idiosyncratic, risks, known as alpha.

Quantifying volatility has yielded an equal number of Nobel prizes and controversies. The vacillation of security prices is often measured by a coefficient of variation within the Black-Scholes formula published in 1973. Volatility is implicitly defined as the standard deviation of the yield of an asset. The value of an option increases with volatility. The higher the volatility the greater the option's chance during its life to be "in the money" - convertible to the underlying asset at a handsome profit.

Without delving too deeply into the model, this mathematical expression works well during trends and fails miserably when the markets change sign. There is disagreement among scholars and traders whether one should better use historical data or current market prices - which include expectations - to estimate volatility and to price options correctly.

From "The Econometrics of Financial Markets" by John Campbell, Andrew Lo, and Craig MacKinlay, Princeton University Press, 1997:

"Consider the argument that implied volatilities are better forecasts of future volatility because changing market conditions cause volatilities (to) vary through time stochastically, and historical volatilities cannot adjust to changing market conditions as rapidly. The folly of this argument lies in the fact that stochastic volatility contradicts the assumption required by the B-S model - if volatilities do change stochastically through time, the Black-Scholes formula is no longer the correct pricing formula and an implied volatility derived from the Black-Scholes formula provides no new information."

Black-Scholes is thought deficient on other issues as well. The implied volatilities of different options on the same stock tend to vary, defying the formula's postulate that a single stock can be associated with only one value of implied volatility. The model assumes a certain - geometric Brownian - distribution of stock prices that has been shown to not apply to US markets, among others.

Studies have exposed serious departures from the price process fundamental to Black-Scholes: skewness, excess kurtosis (i. e., concentration of prices around the mean), serial correlation, and time varying volatilities. Black-Scholes tackles stochastic volatility poorly. The formula also unrealistically assumes that the market dickers continuously, ignoring transaction costs and institutional constraints. No wonder that traders use Black-Scholes as a heuristic rather than a price-setting formula.

Volatility also decreases in administered markets and over different spans of time. As opposed to the received wisdom of the random walk model, most investment vehicles sport different volatilities over different time horizons. Volatility is especially high when both supply and demand are inelastic and liable to large, random shocks. This is why the prices of industrial goods are less volatile than the prices of shares, or commodities.

But why are stocks and exchange rates volatile to start with? Why don't they follow a smooth evolutionary path in line, say, with inflation, or interest rates, or productivity, or net earnings?

To start with, because economic fundamentals fluctuate - sometimes as wildly as shares. The Fed has cut interest rates 11 times in the past 12 months down to 1.75 percent - the lowest level in 40 years. Inflation gyrated from double digits to a single digit in the space of two decades. This uncertainty is, inevitably, incorporated in the price signal.

Moreover, because of time lags in the dissemination of data and its assimilation in the prevailing operational model of the economy - prices tend to overshoot both ways. The economist Rudiger Dornbusch, who died last month, studied in his seminal paper, "Expectations and Exchange Rate Dynamics", published in 1975, the apparently irrational ebb and flow of floating currencies.

His conclusion was that markets overshoot in response to surprising changes in economic variables. A sudden increase in the money supply, for instance, axes interest rates and causes the currency to depreciate. The rational outcome should have been a panic sale of obligations denominated in the collapsing currency. But the devaluation is so excessive that people reasonably expect a rebound - i. e., an appreciation of the currency - and purchase bonds rather than dispose of them.

Yet, even Dornbusch ignored the fact that some price twirls have nothing to do with economic policies or realities, or with the emergence of new information - and a lot to do with mass psychology. How else can we account for the crash of October 1987? This goes to the heart of the undecided debate between technical and fundamental analysts.

As Robert Shiller has demonstrated in his tomes "Market Volatility" and "Irrational Exuberance", the volatility of stock prices exceeds the predictions yielded by any efficient market hypothesis, or by discounted streams of future dividends, or earnings. Yet, this finding is hotly disputed.

Some scholarly studies of researchers such as Stephen LeRoy and Richard Porter offer support - other, no less weighty, scholarship by the likes of Eugene Fama, Kenneth French, James Poterba, Allan Kleidon, and William Schwert negate it - mainly by attacking Shiller's underlying assumptions and simplifications. Everyone - opponents and proponents alike - admit that stock returns do change with time, though for different reasons.

Volatility is a form of market inefficiency. It is a reaction to incomplete information (i. e., uncertainty). Excessive volatility is irrational. The confluence of mass greed, mass fears, and mass disagreement as to the preferred mode of reaction to public and private information - yields price fluctuations.

Changes in volatility - as manifested in options and futures premiums - are good predictors of shifts in sentiment and the inception of new trends. Some traders are contrarians. When the VIX or the NASDAQ Volatility indices are high - signifying an oversold market - they buy and when the indices are low, they sell.

Chaikin's Volatility Indicator, a popular timing tool, seems to couple market tops with increased indecisiveness and nervousness, i. e., with enhanced volatility. Market bottoms - boring, cyclical, affairs - usually suppress volatility. Interestingly, Chaikin himself disputes this interpretation. He believes that volatility increases near the bottom, reflecting panic selling - and decreases near the top, when investors are in full accord as to market direction.

But most market players follow the trend. They sell when the VIX is high and, thus, portends a declining market. A bullish consensus is indicated by low volatility. Thus, low VIX readings signal the time to buy. Whether this is more than superstition or a mere gut reaction remains to be seen.

It is the work of theoreticians of finance. Alas, they are consumed by mutual rubbishing and dogmatic thinking. The few that wander out of the ivory tower and actually bother to ask economic players what they think and do - and why - are much derided. It is a dismal scene, devoid of volatile creativity.
